I am the way, the truth and the life. – John 14:6
In my own life I have experienced Jesus as the way to God even though I started out as very antagonistic to that idea. I watched a 700 Club show on TV once. A woman from India in a sari was being interviewed. When she began talking about the peace she had through Jesus, I started to cry. Here was a woman from the other side of the world from me, and I knew what she was talking about because I knew that Savior and felt that peace too.
Although I had believed in Jesus, I had a thousand questions to be answered. I encourage you to use your time if you are at college to study out what the Bible says about Jesus. You have the time to study it now—don’t miss it. I used it and got a solid foundation for my life.
I began to study and to see that Jesus was unique. Buddha pointed to the noble truths but told people not to worship him, Lao Tzu pointed to oneness with the Tao, Mohammed to the Koran, and Moses to the Law. Jesus was different. He pointed to Himself.
Jesus said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6). This is an extremely exclusive statement. Jesus said, “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved . . .” (John 10:9 ESV). He said, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry” (John 6:35 NIV). He proclaimed, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness . . .” (John 8:12 NIV). He even said, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies . . .” (John 11:25).
Jesus made unique truth claims. Do you believe them?
