...so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. – Ephesians 3: 17-19
God really loves us. Reading Ephesians, I have been struck by the words and phrases Paul uses to describe God’s love and grace: lavished (1:8); incomparable (2:7); unsearchable riches (3:8); breadth and length and height and depth of His love (3:18); love which surpasses knowledge (3:19).
You can’t read Ephesians and not know that God loves you. Ephesians drips and overflows with God’s love for us. This love isn’t the “ooey-gooey, feel good” kind of love. It is hard-core, the kind that can hold you through rough times. It’s the kind of love that says, “I want what’s best for you. No, this isn’t going to be easy. But you will be a better, stronger person for it. I will be holding you through the storm. You will never be alone.” That’s the kind of love God has for us. That kind of love is worth dying for. Ask the disciples. Ask Paul. Ask all the martyrs through the ages and even today.
Lord, make Your love so real to me that I can’t help but speak and share it with others. Let my life be living proof of Your love.
