Rest In God

Posted by Shirley Ferguson on

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.  – Psalm 62:1-2

“My soul find rest in God alone”—those words bring me so much peace and comfort. So often my soul, my mind, and my body need rest. I need an escape, I need to call it quits. It is at those times it is so lovely to be able to turn to God, crawl up on His lap, and rest. Too often I get too busy to turn to God, forgetting that it is only with God that I can truly rest. He indeed is my Rock and my Salvation, my Fortress; I won’t be shaken if I turn to God. If I find my rest in Him, trust Him, know that He will never let me down, then truly God is my Rock, my Salvation, and my Fortress. I will not be shaken.

Those times when I do turn to God in the midst of the chaos called life, I find Him ever beside me, bidding me to give my burdens to Him. It is then that He takes control of my schedule and sometimes causes something to be canceled so that suddenly I have free time, time to rest, literally. But there are those other times when God fills my heart with His peace in the midst of the chaos. He gives me strength to endure and the courage to keep going. He is indeed my Rock (I can always depend on Him), and my salvation (I couldn’t do life without Him).

So, what are you waiting for? Turn to God and find your rest in Him. He is sooo worth it.
