Love bears all things, believes all things . . . . - 1 Corinthians 13:7 NASB
Think back in your life: I’ll bet you can think of someone who was there for you when you needed someone to have faith in you–to not give up on you when you thought of giving up on God. Take a moment right now and thank God for that person or those people.
Now let’s put the shoe on the other foot. Who do you know who’s struggling, who’s considering giving up, who’s lost hope, who needs to be encouraged? Do you love that person enough to “never lose faith” in her? Can you figure out a way to let him know in no uncertain terms that you aren’t giving up on him–that you’ll stand with him because you believe in him?
The odds are pretty high that someone in your life needs just such an encouraging word, and God may very well want you to be the one to give it. Never underestimate the power of what a supportive word might mean to someone. Never assume they have it all together and don’t need to hear from you.
Take a few minutes, pray, and ask God to bring to your mind anyone He wants you to express faith in. And then do so!
Don’t fake it; don’t say it if you don’t mean it. Be sincere, but do find a reason to believe God is not finished with that person and has great plans for his or her future–and then love that man or woman enough to tell them so.
You’ll be glad you did.
